The Jetson Nano Developer Kit is a small AI computer having quad-core 64bit ARM Cortex-A57 CPU with 128 GPU (CUDA) cores capable of doing 472 GFLOPS of computation- suitable for learners, makers, and developers. One can easily build practical AI applications, AI robots, run Docker containers and many more with this small yet powerful super computing Jetson device. Jetson Nano Developer Kit is from the NVIDIA’s Jetson Family and is cheapest among all. It is available at an awesome cost of just $99*. In India this developer kit can be purchased from NVIDIA store itself at INR 8,999/*.

Setup NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit:

You will need some additional accessories to run this developer kit

  • Micro SD Card (Class 10) with at least 16 GB of storage*
  • HDMI or Display port cable to connect to the monitor
  • USB Keyboard and Mouse
  • Micro-USB Power Supply (5V, 2Amps for 10 watts) or DC Power Supply (5V, 4Amps for more watts)**
  • USB Wi-Fi Adapter or Ethernet Cable connected to the internet

* 16 GB is the minimum requirement to run Jetson Nano Developer Kit but we would highly recommend to use minimum 32/64 GB as the Jetson inference libraries are in large size.

** When it comes to power supply then NVIDIA highly recommends 5V, 2.5 Amps micro-USB power supply from Adafruit. With normal micro-USB power supply you may experience frequent shutdown of the device. For extensive or more power hungry applications to run on your device, you may need DC Power Supply (5V, 4Amps). You can also purchase this from Adafruit.

Prepare your SD card:

To prepare your Jetson Nano for first boot you need to flash your SD card with Jetpack SDK with latest OS image. A detailed explanation of how to flash your micro-SD card with Jetpack SDK is given at Jetson Nano Developer website.

Ready for the first boot:

Once you have flashed your SD card then insert the card into your Jetson Nano, attach a computer display, mouse and keyboard.
